ok so, from the comments you have received, and my experience, the aperture setting for the epson scan software seems to be a little touchy. it seems to work better for images where the aperture setting is either wide open or closed down. the images scanned using silverfast worked out okay for me with an aperture setting between f7 and f11. i have yet to find a good pair of aperture settings for both software packages though, so if you find a good pair, please let me know.
