crack Beat Banger
Since the prestigious University first dropped the track last week, the upload has gone viral, garnering 113,000 listens and 58 comments, many of which complimented the sound, encouraging musicians to sample the clip. "don't even need headphones, this is a fuckin banger," wrote user megalologicalschlob. "yo this is fire," added user @evillootly. It's even become an EDM playlist staple, with several users adding the "song" to their EDM playlists, including "Top 50: Eletrônica" and "New & hot: Electronic." Because nothing says getting lit like some MIT-based bangers.
UGK's 'Pocket Full Of Stones' is pure, unfiltered rap. Bun B and Pimp C rap about having pockets full of crack, referring to freebasing, dope fiends, pipes and pregnant women clucking for a crack fix. It's one of the realest - and grimmest - hip hop tracks about cocaine going, but - paired with a sleazy, winding funk beat - makes you feel like you're witnessing it all first hand in the front seat of UGK's Cadillac while driving through the streets of their hometown of Port Arthur, Texas. Be sure to watch drug dealing classic Menace II Society to grab a listen of 'Pocket Full Of Stones' as well.
Rap link-ups haven't come much better than Freddie Gibbs and legendary producer Madlib in recent years. The two's most recent project 'Bandana' gifted us with 'Half Manne Half Cocaine', where Freddie delivers KO lyrical punches on top of Madlib's sinister beats. Split into two parts (Half Manne and Half Cocaine), the first half has Freddie telling us how he "just broke up a brick on the East with the clique" and "just turned my mom house to a powder house". In part two he reveals "crack numbin' up my fingertips" how he "sent sixty pounds of Walter White, to White Plains" and that he's "movin' ounces on the Cash App."
Fast, frenetic bass kicks are essentially a cocaine sesh-ridden heartbeat on Yakooza's hard trance weapon 'Cocaine'. There's no time for a breather among the relentless kicks, punches and cyber synths, with the same 'cocaine' sample as The Maxx's 'Cocaine' dropped in, giving you one intense hard trance high at the end of it.
Tunes about crack cocaine don't come much harder than NWA's 'Dope Man'. The Compton crew never shied away from delving deep into the culture and happenings of their city - which was hit hard by the crack cocaine epidemic in the '80s - and 'Dope Man' is an insightful narrative into the life of a drug dealer. With classic Dr. Dre breaks and woozy West Coast synths as the track's foundations, Eazy E and Ice Cube spit hard bars about crack, "rock" and smoking "'caine", with shouts of "dopeman, dopeman, give me a hit" in the chorus. While it could be mistaken for glorifying the drug, the track's actually a pretty educational tool about the effect it had on the group's community.
You hear the rainfall in Capone-N-Noreaga's 'Stick You' and you just know something is about to go down. And that it does, as the pair and featured artist Tragedy Khadafi move around Queens, New York on the hunt for a guy that's slung them dodgy cocaine. "Is it getting your shit numb?", Noreaga asks, to a reply of "No, this shit is weak". And so the crusade for a drug heist begins backed by a dusty, piano-tapping golden age East Coast hip hop beat. In and among the searching, gagging and stick-up, Capone, Norega and Khadafi chat about how they are turning "coke to crack" and how they "been buying my coke from the same cat." The plot's so good this could be film noir for the '90s hip hop generation. If only they made visuals to go with it.
Last year, a festivalgoer turned up dead at Gathering of the Vibes. Within days, the jam-band blogosphere lit up, hurling accusations at the Nitrous Mafia, with claims that the victim was beaten with a tank, sprayed with gas, and burned alive. Weeks later, a toxicology report ruled that he died from a simple drug overdose, but the episode was still a black eye for festival promoter Ken Hays, who came under fire from Bridgeport authorities for failure to control the scene. Despite confiscating about 100 tanks, the security guards at Vibes proved no match for the gas mob.
12 Gauge Shell Crackers deter birds from valuable crops, airport runways, and industrial sites. Now available in two range options, standard range 12 Gauge Shell Crackers travel approximately 60m (200ft) downrange and then detonate with a loud crack, scaring any birds in the area.
The song is played fairly early on in the first episode of Stranger Things season 4. Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) plays it on her Walkman while walking through the school halls. It's played frequently throughout the entire season, which could have contributed to the song going viral. Also contributing: The fact that the song is a timeless banger.
The Recap: Amethyst is put in charge of Steven and Connie while Garnet and Pearl go out looking for Jasper. Unfortunately, Jasper comes to Beach City to pick a fight instead. Amethyst takes a beating, shaking her self-confidence, while Stevonnie is able to drive Jasper away.
The first rap hit on a major label, peaking at Number 87, was a no-frills joint: a loping bass line and jumping beat with the Harlem-born Blow presiding over playground-party noises and percussion breakdowns. Blow toured extensively behind "The Breaks," taking B-boy culture to mainstream USA while blazing a trail for rappers like Run of Run-DMC, who got his start billing himself "The Son of Kurtis Blow."
"This birthed gangsta rap," Questlove said. "N.W.A just took [its] formula and ran with it." The Philly MC got his track's name from a gang, Park Side Killers, and its beat from an evidently stressed-out Roland 909 drum machine. In a lazily menacing flow, he buys coke, beds a whore, buys weed and flashes a pistol. That he decides not to pull the trigger makes the jam no less chilling.
The late 1980s were also the peak of the crack epidemic in the United States. Drug-related crime surged 180% throughout the decade, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics. Tacoma was considered ground zero for gang activity in Washington state.
Foulk grew concerned that a house on Ash Street, his block, was being used to deal crack cocaine. He purchased his own house for $10,000 ($20,875 in 2019 dollars), with the idea that property values would rise. He was set on ensuring the "drug-ridden" neighborhood would become safe from gangs and drug dealers -- sooner rather than later.

BPR: You sold crack cocaine to gangs in Los Angeles that spent some of their profits to arm themselves with guns. What is the role of the drug dealer in tracking the impact of their product after it leaves their hands?
BPR: Some have held you personally accountable for the 1980s crack cocaine epidemic in LA. What degree of responsibility do you bear? Do you regret the impact you had on your community, and would you change anything in retrospect?
Snow:Cocaine. Synonyms include Charlie, crack, coke, dust, flake, freebase, lady, nose candy, powder, rock, rails, snowbirds, toot, white, and yahoo, according to Phoenix House. "After all this time, alcohol and pot are still the most used drugs by teens, but cocaine is really a strong third, especially with females, because of the weight issue," says Janice Styer, MSW, a clinical coordinator-addictions counselor at Caron Treatment Center in Wernersville, Pa. "The drug of choice among women with eating disorders is almost invariably cocaine." A stimulant, cocaine can decrease appetite.

Back in May, ROSSY stomped onto Zeds Dead's Deadbeats label with "Heaven," a wistful and cinematic banger. Her saturated kick drums punch through the mix with sniper precision, clearing the way for crescendoing synths to course through all at once, like the rushing water of a river after a storm. - Jason Heffler
This year saw Rome in Silver breathe new life into 2019's seductive banger "Fool," a breakthrough record for the electronic music virtuoso at the time. This time around, however, he dunked the track into a midtempo batter, producing a much darker rendition that runs roughshod with filthy stabs and piercing 808s. - Jason Heffler
David Guetta had a typically monster year in 2022, but if there was one aspect that stood out, it was his chameleon-like versatility. One day he'd drop an electrifying "future rave" banger, and the next he'd release a track like "What Would You Do?" Created in collaboration with producer-of-the-moment Joel Corry and chart-topping "Wild Thoughts" singer Bryson Tiller, the pop-house hybrid was an instant hit after its March release. - Jason Heffler 041b061a72
